Description.
Designed for course VISC 205- Web Design II. Deliverables included a Lo-Fi wireframe and Hi-Fi Mockup, a multipage website utilizing WordPress, and a basic redesigned branding.
Strategy and UX
The current website’s most significant issue is an undated design and UX experience. Information is ungrouped and scattered throughout the website, which contains large amounts of unnecessary information. The final result is an overbearing, overstimulating website that is hard to navigate.
To fix these issues while still including all of the current site’s content, I focused on a clear layout with clearly defined and organized sections using collapsable menus. This reduced clutter and created a more navigatable website. Furthermore, I highlighted key qualities and included a calendar for monthly event-related news. Contact forms were included on each page for easy-to-navigate communication.
Below are the low-fidelity wireframes for AppleWorks, focusing on clear sections and a balance of imagery to text.
rural services
redesigned
One of the most interesting features of the current website is the amount of information it hosts on Apples, Gourds, and other sorts of vegetables. I wanted to keep this information to increase AppleWorks’ brand authority and create user trust. To keep this information while maintaining a clean and organized design, I used accordion tabs built into the theme to sort through this information. I also highlighted recipes that used the featured produce to promote user interaction.
friendly design
for every platform
Another major flaw in the current website is it’s lack of responsive design, with a majority of the website being unusable on smaller devices. Built with a Bootstrap framework, the redesigned website works perfectly on Desktop, Tablet, and Smartphones for greater audience reach.
